Johnny took this photograph of my foster puppy and I last night. This morning Paddy was picked up to go and meet a potential family. He may or may not be returning. The most common comment we've heard throughout this experience was "I would never be able to foster - it would be way too hard to give them up!" Paddy was our first foster puppy, but he will not be our last. The whole experience has been amazing for our own Lyra girl and so rewarding for us. It's not easy to say goodbye. The job of a foster family is to shower their pup with love and care. It couldn't be easy to say goodbye and to love a dog at the same time. But the knowledge that this little man is going to change the life of a child and their family makes everything worth it. I have never fostered for an animal rescue (Paddy is from Dogs for Kids with Disabilities) but I expect that the knowledge that you have saved an animal's life by fostering is equally rewarding. Later tonight we will all declare our New Years Resolutions. You might decide that it is time to lose 5kgs, take up jogging, go to bed at a reasonable hour, watch less TV. But what if instead, your resolution for 2014 was to give fostering a go? You don't need to sign up to a lifetime of fostering. Foster only one dog or cat or even a rabbit and you will have changed someone's life. x Caitlin

Lyra bear, dispelling every fear that I had about foster caring. I am just bursting with pride for my girl - she is not usually keen to share (her toys or her people) but she has been everything I hoped and so much more. Once again, she has far, far exceeded my expectations. <3 <3 <3

Probably one of my favourite moments. I can begin to describe to you all the difference that a dog from Dogs for Kids with Disabilities makes to the lives of these children and their families. Such pure, pure love.

A sweet moment in a whirlwind afternoon of pickaboo, tickle wars and silly faces. There is so much I could say about this family - which I'm sure I will in time - but let me say first that Lou & Mike are heroes. I know that you are both so proud of your beautiful children. Rara's fiery inner strength, Archie's funny, friendly nature and Fletcher's total, pure joy for life. But I hope that you know that one day, those three will look back at everything you have done; your determination, your patience, your courage - and they will be the ones bursting with pride. Congratulations on creating such a loved-filled home. May this photograph be a reminder on your hard days and a celebration for the good ones. Thank you for inviting me into your lives and your family. I am blessed to know you xx ~ http://ragamuffinpetphotography.com.au
